The KENNAMETAL 5641122 is a solid carbide turning insert in the WNMG432RP geometry, grade KCM15B, from the KENLOC series. It features an 80-degree trigon (W-shape) insert with a neutral hand orientation and a negative rake and side clearance design. The insert is MTCVD-coated with a multilayer TiCN and Al2O3 coating for sustained performance in demanding cutting operations. With 6 usable cutting edges, an inscribed circle of 0.5 inches, and a corner radius of 0.03 inches (1/32 inch), this insert is engineered for roughing and medium machining applications. It is installed by CNC machinists and toolroom technicians working on turning centers and lathes.
This insert is suited for roughing and medium machining of steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The KCM15B grade offers moderate wear resistance and toughness for steel (ISO P) and high-to-moderate wear resistance for stainless steel (ISO M). Multi-use application coverage includes turning, facing, and boring operations. The KENLOC clamping system supports both clamp and pin holding methods, making it compatible with a wide range of WNMG-style toolholders used in production and job-shop environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement for WNMG432RP-style inserts used in KENLOC-compatible toolholders. Meets ANSI insert code WNMG432 and ISO insert code WNMG080402 (ISO code WNMG080408RP). Compatible with toolholder systems accepting a 0.20 inch hole diameter and negative-rake WNMG insert seats.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine in a full stop and locked-out condition before any toolholder work. Use the appropriate torx or clamp screw driver as specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the insert without over-torquing the clamp. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before mounting. Always verify insert orientation and edge engagement before resuming a cutting cycle.
