The KENNAMETAL 5641110 is a TNMG331MP series turning insert in grade KCM15B, part of the KENLOC tooling system. The insert is manufactured from solid carbide with a multilayer MTCVD-applied TiCN plus Al2O3 coating for wear resistance and thermal stability during interrupted and continuous cuts. The triangular 60-degree insert geometry provides six usable cutting edges per insert, maximizing tool life in high-volume turning applications. With a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, a 3/16-inch thickness, and a 1/64-inch corner radius, this insert is engineered for roughing and medium machining operations on steel and stainless steel workpieces.
This insert is designed for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel (ISO P) and stainless steel (ISO M) workpieces, with grade characteristics offering moderate-to-high wear resistance combined with toughness. The MP chip breaker geometry is optimized for roughing and medium machining passes where chip control is critical. The neutral hand orientation and negative rake angle suit it for rigid setups on CNC lathes and turning centers in production environments. Licensed machinists and tooling technicians working with ferrous alloys, stainless grades, and superalloys or titanium will find the KCM15B grade appropriate for demanding material removal rates.
Conforms to ANSI insert code TNMG331 and ISO insert code TNMG160404, fitting KENLOC-series toolholders and other clamp- or pin-style toolholders designed for TNMG geometry inserts. Suited for primary workpiece materials coded ISO P (steel), ISO M (stainless steel), and superalloys and titanium.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine fully stopped and locked out per applicable safety procedures. Use the correct KENLOC clamp or pin-style toolholder specified for TNMG geometry to ensure proper seating and clamping force. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before indexing to a fresh cutting edge. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque specifications for the clamping screw — do not over-tighten.
