The KENNAMETAL 5641096 is a DNMG431FF solid carbide turning insert in grade KCM15B, designed for high-performance metal cutting in CNC and manual lathe applications. The insert features a 55-degree diamond shape with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch (0.0156-inch) corner radius. It carries a multilayer MTCVD coating of TiCN and Al2O3, which provides wear resistance and thermal stability during interrupted and continuous cuts. With four usable cutting edges and a negative rake geometry, this insert delivers consistent performance in demanding turning operations. It is suited for licensed machinists and CNC programmers working in production or job-shop environments.
This insert is built for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations. Its primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, making it a versatile choice for aerospace, energy, and general machining applications. The FF chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip formation across a range of feed rates and depth-of-cut conditions. Maximum depth of cut is 0.4065 inches, and insert length is 1.2208 inches. The KENLOC series insert is held by clamp and pin methods and is compatible with ANSI and ISO tooling standards.

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for wear or debris before seating a new edge to ensure proper contact and prevent insert movement during cutting.
