The KENNAMETAL 5641069 is a solid carbide turning insert designated CPMT2152MF with grade KCM15B. It features a multilayer TiCN and Al2O3 MTCVD coating applied via CVD process, delivering wear resistance suited to steel and stainless steel machining. The insert carries an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a positive rake geometry, and an 11-degree relief angle. With a 0.25-inch inscribed circle and a 0.03-inch corner radius, this screw-on insert is sized for finish to medium machining operations. Licensed HVAC techs and machinists in metalworking shops will recognize the MF chip breaker as a geometry optimized for controlled chip formation at moderate feeds and depths.
This insert is designed for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces. The KCM15B grade provides moderate wear resistance combined with toughness, making it a practical choice for both P-class (steel) and M-class (stainless steel) ISO material groups. It is suited to CNC turning centers and manual lathes where screw-on toolholders accepting CPMT-style inserts are used. A maximum depth of cut of 0.08 inches supports light-to-moderate roughing passes as well as finishing cuts.
