The KENNAMETAL 5626763 is a carbide replaceable tip drill in the KSEM Plus series, designed for high-productivity hole-making in steel and stainless steel applications. The drill accepts a solid carbide KSEM tip with an HPG insert geometry and is coated with TiAlN via a PVD process for extended wear resistance at elevated cutting temperatures. Key specifications include a 36 mm cutting diameter, a 140-degree drill point angle, and a helical flute design with two flutes and two margins. Through-coolant capability, including MQL (Minimum Quantity Lubrication) compatibility, allows effective chip evacuation and thermal management during drilling. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC tooling technicians in precision machining environments.
The 5626763 is suited for drilling operations in steel (ISO material code P) and stainless steel (ISO material code M) in both production and job-shop settings. Typical applications include standard through-drilling, inclined-exit drilling, and stacked-plate drilling, as noted by the manufacturer. The KSEM Plus platform uses a clamp-style insert holding method, which allows tip replacement without removing the drill body from the spindle in many setups. The 18 mm flute length supports moderate-depth hole applications. This drill is appropriate for use on CNC machining centers and turning centers equipped with through-spindle coolant.
Designed for use with the KENNAMETAL KSEM Plus replaceable tip drill system, insert seat size 10, using HPG-geometry KSEM carbide tips. Primary workpiece materials are steel (ISO code P) and stainless steel (ISO code M).
Tip replacement and initial setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a safe, locked-out state. Use the appropriate KENNAMETAL KSEM torx or clamp key to seat and secure the replaceable tip; do not use improvised tools that could damage the insert pocket or clamp. Verify through-coolant pressure and flow rates are within the machine and toolholder specifications before running the first hole. Consult the KENNAMETAL KSEM Plus application guidelines for recommended cutting parameters by workpiece material and hole depth-to-diameter ratio.
