The KENNAMETAL 5626714 is a carbide replaceable tip drill insert belonging to the KSEM Plus series, designed for high-performance drilling in steel and stainless steel applications. This insert uses a solid carbide tip with a fine grain material grade and a PVD-applied TiAlN coating for heat and wear resistance. The HPG insert geometry and 140-degree included angle support stable cutting and consistent hole quality. It features a helical flute design with two flutes and two margins, and is clamp-held in compatible KSEM toolholders. Through-coolant capability, including MQL (Minimum Quantity Lubricant) support, makes this insert suitable for demanding production drilling environments.
This replaceable tip drill insert is intended for use in CNC machining centers and turning centers in both job shop and production settings. Primary workpiece materials are steel (ISO material code P) and stainless steel (ISO material code M). The insert is well-suited for standard drilling as well as challenging conditions such as inclined exits and stacked plate configurations. The KSEM Plus system is commonly used in industrial metalworking where insert changeover time and consistent hole geometry are priorities. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the typical end users for this tooling.
Designed for use with KSEM Plus series compatible toolholders. Insert seat size 1. ISO number KSEM0703HPG. Compatible with steel and stainless steel workpiece materials per ISO material codes P and M.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured before seating or removing the insert. Use the appropriate torx or clamping key specified for the KSEM insert seat to achieve proper clamp retention without over-torquing. Verify coolant ports are clear and through-coolant pressure is set per the machining center specifications before initiating cuts.
