The KENNAMETAL 5626709 is a replaceable-tip carbide drill from the KSEM Plus series, engineered for precision drilling in steel and stainless steel applications. The drill accepts a solid carbide tip with KCPM45 grade fine-grain carbide and a TiAlN PVD coating, delivering strong wear resistance and thermal stability under demanding cutting conditions. The HPG insert geometry and 140-degree drill point angle promote clean entry and exit in challenging workpiece configurations. With a 16.27mm (41/64 inch) cutting diameter and through-coolant capability including MQL (Minimum Quantity Lubrication) support, this drill is suited for production environments where tool life and hole quality are critical. Licensed HVAC, plumbing, and electrical tradespeople are not the target — this tool is handled by machinists and CNC operators in metal-cutting operations.
The 5626709 tip is designed for use in KSEM Plus series drill bodies. It suits drilling operations in steel and stainless steel (ISO material codes P and M) across a range of workpiece setups, including inclined exit surfaces, stacked plates, and standard through-drilling. The 2-flute, 2-margin helical flute design supports chip evacuation and hole accuracy. The clamp-style insert holding method allows for fast tip changes at the machine without removing the drill body, reducing downtime in production settings. KSEM Plus tooling is common in CNC machining centers and turning centers equipped for driven tooling.
Designed for use with KSEM Plus series replaceable-tip drill bodies. Compatible with ISO material groups P (steel) and M (stainless steel). Insert seat size 1. ISO Number KSEM0641HPG.
Installation and tip changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator following the machine tool builder's procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before indexing or replacing the carbide tip. Use the correct clamping torque as specified in the KENNAMETAL KSEM Plus tooling documentation — do not over-torque the clamp screw. Verify coolant passages are clear before resuming cutting operations.
