The KENNAMETAL 5626649 is a replaceable carbide drill tip designed for use with KSEM modular drill bodies. It carries a cutting diameter of 0.5470 inches (13.89 mm) and a 140-degree included point angle. The tip is manufactured from solid carbide with a fine-grain microstructure and coated with TiAlN via a PVD process, providing wear resistance and heat tolerance in demanding cutting applications. Coolant-through design supports both flood coolant and MQL (Minimum Quantity Lubricant) delivery. The HPG insert geometry and regular helical flute configuration contribute to chip control and stable cutting action. Licensed machinists and toolroom technicians install and replace these tips as part of a modular drilling system.
This drill tip is intended for drilling operations in steel and stainless steel workpieces, corresponding to ISO material groups P and M. It is suited for through-hole drilling, inclined-entry drilling, and stacked-plate drilling scenarios where a consistent, replaceable cutting edge is required. The KSEM series modular system allows rapid tip changes without removing the drill body from the spindle, reducing downtime in production environments. The tip seats in an Insert Seat Size B holder and is retained by a clamp-style holding method.
Designed for use with KSEM series modular drill bodies accepting Insert Seat Size B replaceable tips. Rated for primary workpiece materials steel and stainless steel (ISO material groups P and M). Compatible with inclined-exit, stacked-plate, and standard through-coolant drilling applications as specified by KENNAMETAL KSEM system guidelines.
Installation is performed by toolroom technicians or machinists following the machine tool manufacturer and KENNAMETAL KSEM assembly procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before replacing the drill tip. The seating surface and clamp should be inspected and cleaned before inserting the new tip to ensure proper seating and accurate runout. Do not exceed the recommended clamping torque specified in the KSEM tool body documentation supplied by KENNAMETAL.
