The KENNAMETAL 5615017 is a double-sided solid carbide milling insert in the XCP series, designed for high-productivity face and shoulder milling applications. It carries a CVD-applied TiCN and Al2O3 coating under the KCU25 manufacturer grade, providing wear resistance and thermal stability across a wide range of workpiece materials. The insert measures 18.01 mm in length, 4.01 mm in width, and 4.20 mm in thickness, with a 0.20 mm corner radius and a chamfered and honed cutting edge. Two cutting edges per insert and a positive rake angle of 11 degrees contribute to efficient chip formation and reduced cutting forces.

This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium in both roughing and finishing passes. It fits the KNS cutter series and is compatible with cutter bodies accepting XCP-style inserts of size code 34. The GP chip breaker geometry supports general-purpose milling in shops running CNC machining centers, horizontal mills, and vertical mills in job shop, automotive, aerospace, and general manufacturing environments. Installation Notes
