The KENNAMETAL 5593388 is a carbide thread mill insert designed for internal threading operations. It carries a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, which improves wear resistance and extends tool life in demanding cutting conditions. The insert is ground to a Partial Profile 60-degree thread form and covers a range of 6 to 10 teeth per inch (TPI), making it suitable for a variety of thread pitches within that range. The manufacturer grade is KC635M. This insert is installed and replaced by machinists and tooling technicians working with thread milling systems on CNC machining centers.
This insert is suited for internal thread milling applications where a Partial Profile 60-degree form is required. The 6-10 TPI range accommodates common coarse and fine thread pitches in that window. It fits into the KTMDU insert style seat geometry. Typical use is in ferrous and non-ferrous materials on CNC platforms requiring consistent thread form across production runs. The inscribed circle measures 3.25 mm, which governs compatibility with the appropriate toolholder pocket size.
Designed for use in KTMDU-style thread mill toolholders that accept a 3.25 mm inscribed circle insert seat. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and insert style designation before installation.
Thread mill inserts are installed and indexed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and clamping screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten. Inspect the pocket seat for chips or damage before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
