The KENNAMETAL 5591964 is a solid carbide turning insert carrying the ANSI designation TNMG433RP and ISO code TNMG220412RP. It is engineered for external and internal turning, facing, and boring operations on steel, stainless steel, and superalloys including titanium. The insert features a multilayer CVD coating stack of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiOCN, which provides the KCM25B grade with high toughness on steel and moderate wear resistance on stainless steel. The 60-degree triangular shape delivers six usable cutting edges per insert, and the RP chip breaker geometry is rated for roughing and medium machining passes. A chamfered and honed cutting edge style adds edge strength during interrupted or variable-depth cuts.
This insert is suited for general turning applications in production and job-shop environments where steel and stainless steel are the primary workpiece materials. The KENLOC series designation indicates compatibility with lever-style and pin-style toolholders using negative-rake clamping systems. The neutral hand orientation makes it interchangeable across left- and right-hand toolholder positions. Typical users include CNC machinists, tool-and-die shops, and maintenance machining operations requiring a robust, multi-application insert for interrupted or continuous cuts at moderate to aggressive depths.
Designed for use in KENLOC-series toolholders and any negative-rake TNMG-style toolholder accepting a 1/2-inch inscribed circle, 3/16-inch thick triangular insert held by clamp or pin. Compatible with ANSI size code 433 and ISO size code 220412 toolholder pockets.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per applicable lockout-tagout procedures. Seat the insert fully into the toolholder pocket and torque the clamp or tighten the retention pin to the toolholder manufacturer specification before starting the cut. Inspect the cutting edge and chip breaker for chipping or coating wear at each index point. Do not attempt to re-grind or reseat a damaged insert edge.
