The KENNAMETAL 5591954 is a SNMG543MP turning insert in the KENLOC series, manufactured from solid carbide with a multilayer CVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiOCN applied via MTCVD process. The grade is KCM25B, engineered for high toughness in steel and moderate wear-resistance and toughness in stainless steel machining. The insert features a 90-degree square shape, a 5/8-inch inscribed circle, a 3/64-inch corner radius, and a 1/4-inch thickness. With 8 cutting edges and a neutral hand orientation, it offers cost-effective edge utilization in high-volume production environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in compatible toolholders for external and internal turning applications.
This insert is suited for roughing and medium machining operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. It supports multi-use applications including turning, facing, and boring. The negative rake and negative side clearance geometry, combined with chamfered and honed cutting edges, provide stable cutting action and controlled chip formation under interrupted and continuous cuts. It is identified by ANSI insert code SNMG543 and ISO insert code SNMG150612, and conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards.
Designed for use in SNMG-style KENLOC toolholders accepting a 5/8-inch inscribed circle square insert with a 1/4-inch thickness and 3/64-inch corner radius. Suitable for machining steel (P), stainless steel (M), superalloys, and titanium workpiece materials. Multi-use application: turning, facing, and boring.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Secure the insert using the appropriate clamp or pin holding method specified for the toolholder; do not exceed the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque recommendation. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installation to ensure proper seating and dimensional accuracy.
