The KENNAMETAL 5591919 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CNMG543RP geometry with KCM25B grade, designed for high-productivity metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a multilayer MTCVD coating stack of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiOCN for wear resistance and thermal stability. The 80-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape delivers strong cutting-edge support, while the chamfered and honed edge prep reduces chipping under interrupted or variable-load cuts. With four usable cutting edges and a negative rake, this insert maximizes tool life per unit in roughing and medium-machining applications on steel and stainless steel. Licensed machinists, CNC operators, and toolroom technicians are the primary users.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel, stainless steel, and superalloys including titanium-containing alloys. The KCM25B grade targets high-toughness demands on steel (P category) and moderate wear-resistance with toughness on stainless steel (M category). The KENLOC series CNMG form factor fits standard CNMG-style toolholders that accept clamp or pin insert-holding methods. The neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with both right- and left-hand toolholder setups depending on the application. Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing the insert. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket locating surfaces before tightening the clamp or seating the pin to ensure accurate tool-nose positioning. Inspect the insert pocket and shim for wear or debris before each insert change to avoid seating errors that accelerate edge failure.
