The KENNAMETAL 5591711 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC and manual lathe operations. It carries the ANSI insert code CPMT2152MF and grade designation KCM25B, with a multilayer CVD coating consisting of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiOCN applied via MTCVD process. The 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape provides a strong cutting geometry suited to finishing and medium machining passes. With a 0.25-inch inscribed circle, a 0.0313-inch corner radius, and a positive rake and side clearance geometry, this insert delivers controlled chip formation and surface finish on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces. Licensed machinists, CNC programmers, and toolroom techs specify this insert for turning, facing, and boring applications.
This insert is targeted at production and job-shop environments where steel (P-group) and stainless steel (M-group) are primary workpiece materials. The KCM25B grade balances high toughness for steel with moderate wear resistance for stainless, making it a practical choice across a range of material conditions.
