The KENNAMETAL 5591129 is a solid carbide turning insert with ANSI code DCMT32505FP and grade KCM25B, designed for precision finishing operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a 0.3750-inch inscribed circle and a 0.0079-inch corner radius, enabling tight-tolerance work on contoured and profiled surfaces. A multilayer MTCVD coating — TiCN, Al2O3, and TiOCN — delivers high toughness on steel and moderate wear resistance on stainless steel. The FP chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing cuts, and the honed cutting edge supports consistent surface finish results. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install and index this insert as part of a screw-on toolholder system.
This insert is suited for finishing passes in both residential shop and industrial production environments. Primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The neutral hand orientation and positive rake angle (15 degrees) make it versatile across turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring applications. With two cutting edges per insert and a maximum depth of cut of 0.3049 inches, it supports efficient use in high-mix or production turning programs. It complies with both ANSI and ISO standards, also identified by ISO code DCMT11T302.

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket and tighten the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque using the appropriate Torx or hex key. Inspect the cutting edge and chip breaker for damage before each use; do not run a chipped or cracked insert.
