The KENNAMETAL 5545214 is a solid carbide milling insert with ISO designation EDPT10T308PDERHD and manufacturer grade KCPM40. It carries a dual PVD coating of TiAlN and AlCrN, engineered for high-temperature resistance and wear performance in demanding milling operations. The insert features a parallelogram shape with a 70-degree included angle, a positive rake of 13 degrees, a 15-degree relief angle, and a honed cutting edge style. Two cutting edges are available per insert. Thickness measures 0.148 inches and width measures 0.265 inches, with a maximum depth of cut of 0.2533 inches. The HD chip breaker geometry is optimized for steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium.
This insert is suited for right-hand milling applications in metalworking environments where tool life and chip control are critical. Primary workpiece material codes are P, M, and S, covering steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. It is designed for use in the KENNAMETAL Mill 1-10 cutter series and is held in place via screw. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and general-purpose metal removal in both production shop and job-shop settings. The single-sided construction and positive rake geometry reduce cutting forces and are particularly effective on difficult-to-machine alloys.
Designed for use with the KENNAMETAL Mill 1-10 cutter series. Insert size code is 10T308 with an inscribed circle of 0.266 inches. ANSI code EP1008EHD. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician using the appropriate torx or hex key for the clamping screw. Ensure the cutter body pocket and seating surfaces are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing inserts. Do not mix insert grades or geometries within a single cutter body, as uneven cutting forces can damage the tool and workpiece.
