The KENNAMETAL 5413293 is a VBMT332LF geometry turning insert in the KCP25B carbide grade, designed for precision metal cutting in CNC and manual lathe applications. The insert features a multilayer CVD coating consisting of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiOCN applied via MTCVD process, which provides wear resistance and thermal stability across a range of cutting conditions. With a 35-degree diamond shape, a 5-degree relief angle, and a honed cutting edge, the 5413293 delivers controlled chip formation on steel and cast iron workpieces. The LF chip breaker geometry and positive rake angle support finishing and light intermediate cuts. A screw-on holding method ensures secure clamping in compatible toolholders.
This insert is suited for steel and cast iron machining operations including turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring. It is a multi-use insert appropriate for both roughing light passes and finishing operations on CNC lathes and machining centers in production shop and job shop environments. The KCP25B grade aligns with material grades C2, C3, C6, and C7, covering a broad range of ferrous workpiece applications. Primary workpiece material codes are P for steel and K for cast iron.
Designed as an OEM-style screw-on replacement insert for VBMT-style toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO standards. Suitable for applications with primary workpiece materials coded P (steel) and K (cast iron). Industry standard number VBMT332LF; ISO code VBMT332.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to torque the clamping screw according to the toolholder manufacturer specification — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the insert. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamp for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
