The KENNAMETAL 5413188 is a solid carbide turning insert designated CPMT32.52MF in the KCP25B grade, designed for precision metal-cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a multilayer CVD coating — TiCN, Al2O3, and TiOCN — applied via MTCVD process, providing moderate wear resistance and toughness suited to steel, cast iron, aluminum, and other non-ferrous materials. The insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a positive rake geometry, a 1/32 inch corner radius, and an inscribed circle of 3/8 inch. The MF chip breaker designation targets finishing and medium machining operations where controlled chip formation and surface finish are priorities. Screw-on holding method ensures secure seating in compatible toolholders.
This insert is applied in turning, facing, and boring operations on CNC and manual lathes across job shop, production, and maintenance machining environments. Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully in the pocket and secure with the appropriate screw torque using the toolholder manufacturer's specified driver — do not over-torque the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket and screw threads for wear or debris before seating a new insert to maintain accurate positioning and surface finish results.
