The KENNAMETAL 5413185 is a solid carbide turning insert with ANSI designation CPMT3252LF and ISO designation CPMT09T308. It carries the KCP10B grade and features a multilayer CVD coating system of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiOCN applied via MTCVD process. This coating stack delivers high wear resistance on steel and moderate wear resistance with toughness on aluminum and non-ferrous materials. The insert has an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a positive rake angle of 5 degrees, an 11-degree relief angle, and a honed cutting edge. It is designed for screw-on holding and provides 2 cutting edges per insert. Licensed machinists and CNC operators handling production turning, facing, and boring operations install this insert in compatible toolholders.
This insert is suited for finishing and light machining operations on steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous workpiece materials. Its LF chip breaker geometry is optimized for controlled chip formation at light depths of cut, making it a practical choice for close-tolerance turning on CNC lathes and machining centers. The positive side clearance and positive rake contribute to reduced cutting forces, which is beneficial when working with thin-walled parts or finishing passes where dimensional accuracy is critical. This insert is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 5 units.
Designed for use in screw-on style toolholders accepting CPMT-style inserts with a 3/8 inch inscribed circle and ANSI size code 3252. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards for insert geometry and tolerancing.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the insert. Use the correct torque wrench and screw size specified by the toolholder manufacturer when fastening the clamp screw — do not overtighten. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper seating and dimensional accuracy.
