The KENNAMETAL 5403119 is a CNMG643MR KCP25B3 grade solid carbide turning insert designed for steel and cast iron machining applications. It features a multilayer CVD coating system consisting of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiOCN applied via MTCVD process, delivering moderate wear resistance and toughness across a range of cutting conditions. The insert carries an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a negative rake and negative side clearance, a 3/4-inch inscribed circle, a 3/64-inch corner radius, and a maximum depth of cut of 0.25 inches. Four usable cutting edges and an MR chip breaker geometry make it suitable for roughing and medium machining passes. Licensed HVAC techs, machinists, and toolroom professionals install this insert into KENLOC-compatible toolholders.
This insert is applied in turning, facing, and boring operations on steel (ISO P) and cast iron (ISO N) workpieces. The KCP25B3 grade is engineered for moderate wear resistance combined with adequate toughness, making it a practical choice for interrupted cuts and variable stock conditions encountered in general-purpose production turning on both manual and CNC lathes. It conforms to ANSI insert code CNMG643 and ISO insert code CNMG190612, which allows direct cross-referencing when selecting compatible toolholders. The MR chip breaker promotes controlled chip flow during medium to heavy material removal rates.
Designed for use in KENLOC-series toolholders accepting CNMG643 or ISO CNMG190612 inserts with clamp or pin holding. Suitable for turning, facing, and boring of steel and cast iron workpiece materials per ISO P and ISO N classifications.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the pocket locating surfaces before tightening the clamp or pin to avoid micromovement under cutting load. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris prior to indexing to a fresh cutting edge.
