The KENNAMETAL 5403019 is a solid carbide turning insert in the KENLOC series, designed for high-productivity metal cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries an ANSI insert code of CNMG432 and an ISO code of CNMG120408MR, featuring an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a neutral hand orientation and negative rake geometry. The insert is produced using an MTCVD multilayer coating process that applies TiCN, Al2O3, and TiOCN layers — a combination engineered to deliver high wear resistance on steel and moderate wear resistance with toughness on aluminum and non-ferrous materials. Grade KCP10B is classified for Steel (P) and Non-Ferrous (N) workpiece materials. Professional machinists and CNC operators working in job shop or production environments typically specify this insert.
This insert is suited for roughing and medium machining operations including turning, facing, and boring. Its negative side clearance and honed cutting edge style make it appropriate for interrupted and continuous cuts in steel and cast iron at moderate-to-aggressive depths. The MR chip breaker geometry supports chip control across a range of feed rates. Maximum depth of cut is 0.25 inches (6.35 mm). The insert is held by clamp or pin methods, compatible with KENLOC-style toolholders that accept CNMG-geometry inserts.

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine in a fully stopped and locked-out state before insert indexing or replacement. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not over-tighten the clamp screw. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surface for debris or wear before seating the insert. Confirm insert orientation and chip breaker direction relative to the cut direction before resuming operation.
