The KENNAMETAL 5390731 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance finishing in demanding machining environments. It features a 1 inch cutting diameter, a 2 inch length of cut, and a 0.06 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at the tool nose for improved surface finish and edge life. The 6-flute, right-hand spiral geometry with a high helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. An AlTiN PVD coating provides thermal and oxidation resistance, making this tool well-suited for dry or semi-dry cutting in hard and abrasive materials. This end mill is engineered for finishing operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and other hard materials. Its single-end, centercutting design allows plunge entry and versatile toolpath strategies. The straight-cylindrical shank and close pitch flute configuration make it compatible with high-precision hydraulic toolholding systems. It is specified for applications where tight tolerances and fine surface finishes are required, particularly in aerospace, die and mold, and precision component machining.
Designed for use with HC 1/2 through HC 1 1/4 hydraulic sleeves with inch bores, HC 20M through HC 32M hydraulic sleeves metric with inch bores, HC-HSK Form A, and HC-CV Form AD toolholding systems. Intended for finishing operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials per material application codes P, M, S, and H.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or spindle is locked out before mounting or removing the end mill. Seat the shank fully into a clean, undamaged toolholder bore and torque the clamping mechanism to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before initiating the first cut to protect both the tool and the workpiece.
