The KENNAMETAL 5330135 is a polycrystalline cubic boron nitride (PCBN) nano-composite turning insert designed for machining hard materials. It carries ANSI code CCGW3251 and ISO code CCGW09T304, with an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape and a 3/8-inch inscribed circle. The insert is finished with a multilayer TiN/AlTiN PVD coating under the manufacturer grade KBH20, providing wear resistance during interrupted and continuous cuts on hardened workpieces. With a positive rake and positive side clearance, it is suited for finishing and semi-finishing operations. Machinists and CNC turning specialists install this insert in compatible screw-on toolholders for precision turning, facing, and boring applications.
This insert is intended for use on hard workpiece materials (ISO material group H), including hardened steels and similar ferrous alloys. Typical applications include finish turning, facing, and boring on CNC lathes and turning centers where tight tolerances and superior surface finish are required. The flat-top chip breaker geometry and chamfered, honed cutting edge are optimized for stable performance at low depths of cut. Two usable cutting edges are available per insert, supporting cost-efficient tooling management in production environments.
Designed for use in CCGW-style screw-on toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle insert. Conforms to ANSI standard CCGW3251 and ISO standard CCGW09T304, making it compatible with any toolholder built to those standard insert pocket specifications.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secure before indexing or replacing the insert. Use the appropriate torque driver for the screw-on clamp to avoid damaging the insert seat or the PCBN tip. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a new cutting edge.
