The KENNAMETAL 5327919 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision finishing operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying the ANSI insert code VCGR3305 and ISO code VCGR160402, this insert features a 35-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a positive rake angle of 15 degrees and a positive side clearance. The KCP10 grade is applied via MTCVD multilayer coating, combining TiCN and Al2O3 layers for high wear resistance on steel and moderate wear resistance with toughness on aluminum and non-ferrous materials. With a corner radius of 0.0079 inches and a maximum depth of cut of 0.060 inches, it is built for fine-finish turning passes. It is installed by machinists and CNC operators in production turning environments.
This insert is suited for finishing passes in turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations. The FP chip breaker geometry is optimized for light-depth, high-feed finishing cuts, particularly in steel workpiece applications classified under ISO material group P, with secondary capability in aluminum and non-ferrous materials classified under group N. The insert seats in a Top Notch series toolholder using a clamp-style insert holding method. The neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with standard right-hand and left-hand toolholder setups as appropriate for the application.
Designed for use with Top Notch series clamp-style turning toolholders accepting VCGR3305 (ANSI) or VCGR160402 (ISO) insert geometry. Multi-use application includes turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring setups.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered down and the spindle locked before changing inserts. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamp for wear or damage before seating a new insert. Torque the clamp screw only to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify depth-of-cut and feed rate are within the 0.060-inch maximum depth of cut before starting the cut.
