The KENNAMETAL 5109294 is a solid carbide turning insert in the KENLOC series, designed for precision metal cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying the ANSI insert code DNGG430.5 and ISO code DNGG150402FS, this insert features a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a TiAlN PVD coating and a honed cutting edge. The KCU10 grade delivers high wear resistance with moderate toughness, making it well-suited for finishing passes on steel, stainless steel, and superalloys. The FS chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip formation at finishing depths of cut up to 0.08 inches. Weight is 0.03 pounds per insert.
This insert is intended for finishing operations including turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring. The neutral hand orientation and negative rake geometry make it compatible with standard DNGG-style clamp-and-pin toolholders. It is rated for use on primary workpiece materials coded P (steel), M (stainless steel), K (cast iron), N (aluminum and non-ferrous), S (superalloys and titanium), and H (hardened materials). Typical applications are found in production machining environments where tight tolerances and surface finish are the priority. Sold individually; minimum order quantity is 5 inserts.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement for DNGG430.5FS format inserts in standard KENLOC-style clamp-and-pin toolholders accepting a 55-degree diamond insert with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards for this insert geometry.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC toolroom technician using the appropriate torque wrench and clamp screw per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surfaces for wear or debris before installing a new insert. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut rating for the FS finishing geometry.
