The KENNAMETAL 5109292 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DNGG332FS geometry, grade KCU10, coated with TiAlN via a PVD process. It features a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape with a neutral hand orientation and a negative rake angle of 12 degrees. The inscribed circle measures 0.375 inches, insert length is 0.916 inches, and the corner radius is 0.0313 inches (1/32 inch). The FS chip breaker is optimized for finishing operations. With four usable cutting edges and a honed cutting edge style, this insert delivers high wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials. It is part of the KENLOC series and conforms to ANSI insert code DNGG332 and ISO insert code DNGG110408.
This insert is suited for finishing applications on CNC lathes and turning centers in industrial machining environments. It is intended for use by machinists and tooling specialists working with steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, cast iron, and aluminum. Applicable operations include turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring. The KCU10 grade provides high wear resistance to moderate wear resistance and toughness across material codes P, M, K, N, S, and H. The insert holding method supports both clamp and pin retention styles, making it compatible with standard KENLOC-style toolholders.
Designed for use in KENLOC-series toolholders accepting DNGG-style inserts. Conforms to ANSI insert code DNGG332 and ISO insert code DNGG110408FS. Suitable for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring applications across primary workpiece material codes P, M, K, N, S, and H.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians on CNC or manual turning equipment. Power down the machine and lock out all spindle and axis motion before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket and secure with the appropriate clamp or pin per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the insert seating surface and chip breaker orientation before resuming cutting operations.
