The KENNAMETAL 5090855 is a VNMG431MS KCU10 solid carbide turning insert with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating. It is designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. The insert features a 35-degree diamond (rhombic) V-shape with a negative rake angle of 13 degrees and a neutral hand orientation. The MS chip breaker geometry targets roughing and medium machining applications. With an inscribed circle of 0.5 inches, a corner radius of 0.0156 inches, and four available cutting edges, this insert delivers high wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials. It belongs to KENNAMETAL's KENLOC series and conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards.
This insert is suited for steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, aluminum, and hardened materials - covering ISO material codes P, M, K, N, S, and H. Typical applications include turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring in production and job-shop environments. The insert's negative side clearance and clamp-or-pin holding method make it compatible with standard VNMG-style toolholders.
