The KENNAMETAL 5090812 is a TNMG433MS turning insert in the KCU10 grade, manufactured from solid carbide with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating. Part of the KENLOC series, this triangular insert features a 60-degree included angle, a 0.5 inch inscribed circle, and a 3/64 inch (0.0469 inch) corner radius. The honed cutting edge and MS chip breaker geometry are optimized for roughing and medium machining operations. With six usable cutting edges and a neutral hand designation, it delivers consistent performance in high-wear and moderate-toughness applications across turning, facing, and boring operations. Licensed HVAC techs, machinists, and tooling professionals working in production environments are the primary installers and users of this insert.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring of steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium (ISO material codes P, M, K, N, S, H). The MS chip breaker is engineered for roughing and medium machining, making it effective in both interrupted and continuous cut conditions on difficult-to-machine materials. It is compatible with KENLOC-style toolholders designed to accept TNMG-style inserts with clamp and pin holding methods. Industry classifications include ANSI code TNMG433 and ISO code TNMG220412MS.
Designed for use in KENLOC series toolholders accepting TNMG-style inserts with clamp or pin holding. ANSI insert code TNMG433, ISO insert code TNMG220412MS. Meets ANSI and ISO standards. Material grade C3 and C4.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician following the toolholder manufacturer's torque and clamping specifications. Power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping hardware for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Do not mix insert grades or geometries within a toolholder setup without verifying compatibility with the machining application.
