The KENNAMETAL 5067485 is a solid carbide indexable drill insert designed for use in indexable drilling tool bodies. This insert uses the DFTGD designation, combining the DFT insert style with a GD chipbreaker geometry. It carries the KCU25 manufacturer grade with an AlTiN coating applied via PVD process, providing wear resistance and thermal protection in demanding drilling applications. The inscribed circle measures 15 mm (0.5906 inches), with a thickness of 0.2067 inches and a corner radius of 0.85 mm (0.0335 inches). The 84-degree included angle trigon shape and 8-degree relief angle support stable cutting action in a range of workpiece materials. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in metal cutting environments are the primary installers.
This insert is suited for indexable drill tooling used in production machining environments, including turning centers, machining centers, and dedicated drilling operations. The neutral cutting direction makes it applicable to standard right-hand drilling setups. The GD chipbreaker is engineered to handle chip control in medium to harder workpiece materials where consistent chip evacuation is critical. The insert size designation is 090508, with a mounting hole diameter of 5.50 mm (0.2165 inches), which must match the tool body seat specification before installation.
Designed as a replacement insert for indexable drill tool bodies that accept DFT-style trigon inserts with a 090508 insert size designation and a 5.50 mm mounting hole. Verify tool body seat geometry and insert pocket specifications before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key specified by the tool body manufacturer to achieve proper seating torque — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide insert. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a new insert.
