The KENNAMETAL 5067480 is a solid carbide indexable drill insert designed for use in indexable drilling operations requiring high-performance material removal. Carrying the KCU25 manufacturer grade and an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating, this insert is engineered to handle demanding hole-making applications in a range of workpiece materials. The insert style is DFT with an HP chipbreaker geometry, a 15 mm (0.5906 inches) inscribed circle, an 84-degree trigon shape, and a corner radius of 0.0313 inches (0.79 mm). The insert thickness is 0.2067 inches, and the relief angle is 8 degrees. Licensed machinists, tooling specialists, and CNC operators install and index these inserts during production or maintenance tooling changes.
This indexable drill insert is suited for precision hole-making in metalworking environments, including general manufacturing, job shop, and production machining contexts. The HP chipbreaker geometry is designed to control chip flow and reduce cutting forces, making it applicable in both through-hole and blind-hole drilling operations. The neutral hand orientation means it can be used without directional restriction. It fits indexable drill bodies that accept the DFT insert style at the corresponding insert size 090508 seating geometry.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement indexable drill insert for indexable drill bodies accepting DFT-style inserts at insert size 090508 seating geometry.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and locked out before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key as specified by the drill body manufacturer to achieve proper clamping torque on the insert screw — do not overtighten or cross-thread the clamping fastener. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the new insert.
