The KENNAMETAL 5067406 is a solid carbide indexable drill insert designed for use in indexable drilling operations on CNC machining centers and drill press setups. Manufactured to the DFTHP style with a Trigon (84-degree included angle) geometry, this insert features a KCU25 grade substrate with a PVD-applied AlTiN coating for heat resistance and extended tool life in demanding cutting environments. The insert carries an 8 mm (0.3150 inches) inscribed circle, a thickness of 0.1476 inches, and a corner radius of 1/32 inch (0.0313 inches). It is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units. Machinists and tooling technicians working in metalworking shops or production environments will find this insert suited to high-performance drilling applications.
This insert is intended for use in indexable drill bodies that accept the DFTHP insert style with size designation 05T308. The HP chipbreaker geometry is optimized for chip control in through-hole and blind-hole drilling applications. The neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with standard drill body configurations. Typical applications include drilling steel and other ferrous materials where the AlTiN coating provides thermal stability and wear resistance under high cutting speeds and feeds.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for indexable drill bodies accepting DFTHP-style inserts in size 05T308. Confirm drill body manufacturer specifications before ordering to ensure proper seating and clamping.
Indexable insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine powered down and locked out per applicable safety procedures. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to the drill body manufacturer's specified seating procedure — do not over-torque the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating the new insert. Verify insert orientation and hand before resuming cutting operations.
