The KENNAMETAL 5062148 is a solid carbide turning insert in the TNMG666RP KCU10 grade, designed for external and internal turning operations in metalcutting applications. The insert features a 60-degree triangular shape with a 3/32-inch (0.0938 inches) corner radius, a negative rake angle of 5 degrees, and a TiAlN PVD coating that delivers high wear resistance across a broad range of workpiece materials. With 6 available cutting edges and a maximum depth of cut of 0.4326 inches, this insert is built for roughing and medium machining passes where consistent edge life matters. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists are the primary installers.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. The KCU10 grade provides high wear resistance to moderate wear resistance combined with toughness, making it effective on P-, M-, K-, N-, S-, and H-class workpiece materials. The RP chip breaker geometry is optimized for roughing and medium machining, managing chip control effectively in interrupted and continuous cuts. The insert belongs to the KENLOC series and is held by clamp or pin style toolholders accepting TNMG-style negative inserts.
Designed for use in KENLOC series toolholders accepting TNMG-style inserts with negative rake and pin or clamp holding. Suitable for multi-use application in turning, facing, and boring operations across steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, superalloys, and titanium workpieces.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians on turning centers or manual lathes. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Ensure the toolholder pocket and seating surfaces are clean and free of chips before clamping. Torque the clamp or pin fastener according to the toolholder manufacturer specification — do not use values not documented for the specific holder being used.
