The KENNAMETAL 5059580 is a 5-flute, solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for high-performance material removal in demanding machining environments. It carries a 0.0300 inch corner radius, a 1/4 inch cutting diameter, and a 1-1/4 inch length of cut, with a 3 inch overall length that provides extended reach into deep pockets and cavities. The AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating delivers elevated heat resistance and surface hardness, making this tool suitable for both roughing and finishing passes. The 43-degree high helix promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces heat buildup at the cutting edge. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in job shop or production environments are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill is rated for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It belongs to the UGDE series from KENNAMETAL, which targets extra-long-reach applications where standard-length tools cannot access the feature. The straight cylindrical shank is compatible with HC-CV Form AD holders and ER single angle standard collets, making it straightforward to fit into common toolholding setups. The right-hand cutting direction and right-hand flute spiral are standard for conventional CNC milling. This is a single-end tool with no chipbreaker and no coolant-through capability, so external flood or mist cooling is recommended in heat-intensive cuts.
Designed for use with HC-CV Form AD holders and ER single angle standard collets. Rated for primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Part of the KENNAMETAL UGDE series.
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or collet nut is released before inserting or removing the end mill. Verify collet size matches the 1/4 inch shank diameter and torque the collet nut to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Because this tool has no coolant-through capability, confirm adequate external coolant delivery is directed at the cutting zone before beginning the operation.
