The KENNAMETAL 4176133 is a carbide threading insert in the NT4R style, designed for both internal and external thread cutting operations. Manufactured under the Top Notch series, this insert carries the KCU10 grade designation and features an AlTiN finish applied via PVD coating process. It cuts partial profile 60-degree threads and covers an external pitch range of 1.25 to 6.25 mm (4 to 20 TPI) and an internal pitch range of 2.00 to 6.25 mm (4 to 12 TPI). The right-hand insert is suited for CNC lathe and manual turning applications where consistent thread quality is required across a wide pitch range.
This insert is appropriate for threading operations on ferrous and non-ferrous materials in production machining environments. The AlTiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and wear resistance for demanding cutting conditions. It is sized as Insert Size 4, making it compatible with Top Notch series toolholders designed for that insert size. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, aerospace, and general manufacturing will find this insert suited for high-volume threading passes on both internal bores and external diameters.
Designed for use with Top Notch series NT-style threading toolholders accepting Insert Size 4. Specific toolholder compatibility should be confirmed against the Top Notch system toolholder specifications prior to installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured before seating or replacing the insert. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and may fracture under excessive clamping force. Verify insert orientation and thread direction against the workpiece requirements before beginning the threading cycle.
