The KENNAMETAL 4175895 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to the NGP2062 insert style in the Top Notch series, it carries the KCU10 manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied AlTiN coating for elevated heat and wear resistance. The insert is left-hand orientation with a 1.58 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 2.79 mm, making it suited for shallow to moderate grooving passes. A positive rake geometry reduces cutting forces and promotes chip control in demanding turning applications. Installation requires a compatible Top Notch clamp-style toolholder. Sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 5 units.
This insert is intended for use in metal turning applications on CNC turning centers and manual lathes equipped with Top Notch series clamp-style toolholders. The KCU10 carbide grade with AlTiN finish is well-matched to steel and cast iron workpiece materials where thermal resistance and edge stability are priorities. The left-hand cutting designation indicates suitability for specific toolholder orientations and feed directions. The insert size designation 2062 corresponds to the Top Notch series sizing system. Machinists and toolroom technicians working in production or job-shop environments are the primary installers of this insert type.
Designed for use with Top Notch series clamp-style grooving toolholders that accept the NGP2062 insert size. The MSC and manufacturer cross-reference number for this insert is NGP2062R/L. Verify toolholder hand orientation and insert pocket dimensions before installation.
Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine in a full stop and locked-out state per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate Top Notch clamping hardware and ensure the insert is fully seated in the pocket before applying clamp torque. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or damage before installing a new insert. Do not exceed the cutting parameter limits specified in the KENNAMETAL Top Notch series tooling documentation for this insert grade and geometry.
