The insert carries a KCU10 manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied AlTiN coating, delivering thermal resistance and wear life on a wide range of workpiece materials. It features a 1.19 mm cutting width, a maximum depth of cut of 1.27 mm, and a corner radius of 0.09 mm, making it suited for fine, close-tolerance groove profiles. The clamp-style insert holding method provides rigid, repeatable seating. This insert is intended for use by machinists and CNC lathe operators working in production or job-shop environments.
The 4175850 targets metal-cutting applications where tight groove geometry and consistent tool life are required. Its right-hand orientation suits standard front-tool-post setups on conventional and CNC turning equipment. The NG insert style and 2047 insert size follow the Top Notch platform convention, making this insert compatible with Top Notch toolholders that accept the NG2047 seat. The metric measurement type designation and 5.56 mm cutting height support metric-dimensioned tooling programs. Insert replacement on turning toolholders should be performed with the machine powered off and the spindle fully locked. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can crack under excess clamp load. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for chips or debris before seating the new insert. Qualified machinists or tooling technicians should verify offset and geometry compensation in the CNC control before resuming cuts.
