The KENNAMETAL 4169828 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metal-cutting applications. With a 0.5-inch mill diameter, a 0.625-inch length of cut, and a 4-flute spiral geometry at a 38-degree helix angle, this stub-length end mill delivers aggressive chip evacuation and stable cutting performance. The AlTiN coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life in ferrous and high-temperature alloy materials. It is single-end, center-cutting, and ground to tight tolerances, making it suitable for slotting, profiling, and plunging operations. Material grade KC643M is suited for challenging work materials and interrupted cuts.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers and manual mills across production shops, toolrooms, and maintenance environments. Its stub-length configuration provides added rigidity and reduced deflection in short-reach applications. The 0.5-inch shank diameter fits standard ER collet chucks and end mill holders. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation is the standard configuration for conventional and climb milling setups. The variable index design helps reduce chatter and harmonic vibration during full-width or heavy-radial engagement passes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide square end mill in the KENNAMETAL UEDE series, compatible with standard 0.5-inch end mill holders, ER collet chucks, and Weldon-style holders used in CNC and manual milling equipment.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the holder and torque the retention screw or collet nut to the tool holder specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning production cuts to confirm proper seating and minimize premature tool wear.
