The KENNAMETAL 4169809 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for precision milling in demanding metalworking applications. With a 0.375-inch cutting diameter, a 31/64-inch (0.4844-inch) length of cut, and a 4-flute spiral design, this stub-length end mill delivers efficient chip evacuation and stable cutting performance. The AlTiN coating provides high-temperature oxidation resistance, making it well suited for dry or near-dry cutting of hardened steels, stainless steels, and high-temperature alloys. The 38-degree helix angle promotes smooth cutting action and reduced chatter. This tool is part of the KENNAMETAL UEDE series and is intended for use by machinists and CNC tool room operators working on tight-tolerance components.
This end mill is designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills where a short, rigid tool is preferred for stability in peripheral and slot milling operations. Its centercutting geometry allows it to plunge directly into the workpiece, adding versatility for ramp entry and pocket milling. The variable index design helps minimize vibration during aggressive cuts. Typical applications include finishing passes on ferrous metals, hardened tool steels, and exotic alloys in aerospace, die-and-mold, and precision parts manufacturing environments.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide square end mill compatible with standard 3/8-inch collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit tooling systems used in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist. Secure the shank fully into a clean, properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the collet and bore for wear or contamination before installation, as runout at the cutting edge directly affects tool life and surface finish. Confirm spindle direction is set to right-hand rotation before engaging the cut.
