The KENNAMETAL 4151742 is a taper length twist drill bit designed for precision drilling in demanding industrial and machining applications. Built from solid carbide and coated with a multilayer TiAlN finish, this bit delivers extended tool life and resistance to heat buildup at high cutting speeds. The 2 mm diameter (0.0787 inches) pairs with a 140-degree point angle for accurate positioning and reduced thrust force on entry. With a straight cylindrical shank measuring 4 mm (0.1575 inches) in diameter, it seats securely in standard collets and drill chucks. Spiral flutes with a regular spiral type and an 8xD flute-to-diameter ratio clear chips efficiently during through and blind hole operations. Coolant-through capability supports high-speed production drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
This drill bit is suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and multi-spindle production setups where small-diameter, tight-tolerance holes are required. Typical applications include aerospace components, medical device manufacturing, mold and die work, and precision metalworking. The maximum drilling depth is 22 mm (0.8661 inches), making it appropriate for shallow to moderate depth holes in the 2 mm diameter range. The tapered web configuration supports web strength while reducing walking at the drill point. It conforms to DIN 6537K specifications, which is a common standard for solid carbide drills in European and international manufacturing environments. Material grade KC7325 is a coated carbide grade optimized for wear resistance in high-production drilling cycles.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and production drill in Series B053A-CPG. Compatible with any CNC machining center, drill press, or spindle setup that accepts a 4 mm straight cylindrical shank and supports coolant-through tooling.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and locked out before loading or changing tooling. Seat the straight shank fully and concentrically in the collet or chuck to prevent runout, which is critical at this diameter. Do not exceed the maximum drilling depth of 22 mm in a single pass without retracting to clear chips, particularly in blind hole applications.
