The KENNAMETAL 4151657 is a stub-length (screw machine length) solid carbide drill bit designed for precision drilling in metal fabrication, machining, and industrial applications. It features a 2.80 mm (0.1102 inch) diameter with a 140-degree split point for accurate self-centering entry and reduced thrust. The multilayer TiAlN coating applied at the tip extends tool life under high-heat cutting conditions. With an overall length of 58.00 mm (2.284 inches) and a flute length of 17.00 mm (0.669 inches), this bit is built for rigidity and minimal deflection in short-reach drilling operations. It is installed and used by machinists, tool and die technicians, and CNC operators.
This drill bit is suited for stub-length drilling applications where rigidity is critical, such as drilling in tight clearances or on CNC machining centers and drill presses. It is appropriate for ferrous and non-ferrous metals, hardened materials, and cast components where a standard-length bit would introduce chatter or deflection. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and tapered web configuration support efficient chip evacuation at shallow depths up to 12.00 mm (0.472 inches). It conforms to DIN 6537K specification, making it a recognized standard for stub-length carbide drills across industrial and precision machining environments.
Designed as an OEM-style stub-length carbide drill bit per DIN 6537K, compatible with standard straight-shank collet chucks and drill press spindles accepting a 4.00 mm shank diameter.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC technicians familiar with carbide tooling requirements. Ensure the machine spindle and collet are clean and free of debris before seating the shank to prevent runout. Carbide tooling is brittle and should not be used in hand drills or under interrupted-cut conditions without verifying suitability. Set appropriate spindle speeds and feed rates per the workpiece material; do not exceed the 12.00 mm maximum drilling depth for this tool.
