The KENNAMETAL 4151649 is a screw machine length (stub) solid carbide drill bit designed for high-precision drilling in metalworking and machining applications. Carrying a size 40 wire gauge designation, it measures 0.0980 inches in diameter and has an overall length of 2.2835 inches (58.00 mm). The 140-degree split-point geometry reduces thrust and self-centers on entry without a center punch. A TiAlN multilayer coating on the tip extends tool life in abrasive and hard materials. Machinists and CNC operators working in production environments install this bit in screw machines, drill presses, and machining centers.
This stub-length drill bit is suited for short-hole drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous metals where rigidity and positional accuracy are critical. The reduced flute length and straight cylindrical shank make it appropriate for close-tolerance work on CNC turning centers, screw machines, and bench drill setups. It is part of KENNAMETAL Series B041A-CPG and conforms to DIN 6537K specifications, making it a direct fit for production shops requiring a standardized, high-performance carbide drill.
Part of the KENNAMETAL Series B041A-CPG stub drill line. Designed as a standard wire-gauge replacement drill for production machining setups requiring a size 40 (0.0980 inches) solid carbide stub-length drill conforming to DIN 6537K.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the straight shank fully and concentrically in the collet or drill chuck before tightening to prevent runout. Do not exceed the recommended maximum drilling depth of 0.4724 inches per pass without retracting to clear chips, as this is a non-coolant-through tool. Inspect the cutting edge and TiAlN coating before each use and replace at first sign of chipping or excessive wear to maintain hole tolerance.
