Product Description

The KENNAMETAL 4151276 is a screw machine length (stub) drill bit engineered for demanding metal cutting applications in production and job shop environments. Built from solid carbide with a multilayer TiAlN coating, the bit delivers high wear resistance and heat tolerance at elevated cutting speeds. The 140-degree split point reduces thrust and improves centering without a pilot hole. At 16.00 mm in diameter and 4.5276 inches overall length, this short-series drill is designed for rigid setups where overhang and vibration must be minimized. Coolant-through capability supports high-feed drilling in difficult materials. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary users.

This drill bit is suited for high-volume production drilling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and similar ferrous materials. The stub length and straight cylindrical shank make it compatible with standard drill chucks and collet systems on CNC machining centers, lathes with live tooling, and manual drill presses. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and tapered web construction support efficient chip evacuation in through-hole and blind-hole applications. It conforms to DIN 6537K geometry standards, making it a direct fit in operations that specify metric DIN tooling.

Key Features

  • Solid carbide construction for rigidity and wear life in ferrous and hard materials
  • Multilayer TiAlN coating applied at the tip for thermal protection and reduced built-up edge
  • 140-degree standard point angle for reduced thrust and self-centering entry
  • Coolant-through design to flush chips and manage heat at the cutting zone
  • Screw machine (stub) length reduces deflection in short-reach setups
  • Tapered web and regular spiral flute geometry promote consistent chip evacuation
  • Meets DIN 6537K specification for metric tooling compatibility

Compatibility

Dimensioned to DIN 6537K standards in the 13.50 mm to 17.00 mm diameter range, Series B051A-CPG. Fits standard straight-shank drill chucks and collet holders accepting a 16.00 mm shank diameter.

Installation Notes

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the straight cylindrical shank fully and evenly in the chuck or collet to the specified shank engagement depth to prevent runout. When using the coolant-through feature, verify that coolant pressure and flow rate are within the machine tool manufacturer's recommended range before beginning the cut.
