Product Description

The KENNAMETAL 4151259 is a screw machine length (stub) drill bit engineered for precision drilling in metalworking and machining applications. Built from solid carbide and coated with a multilayer TiAlN finish at the tip, it delivers superior wear resistance and heat management at elevated cutting speeds. The 140-degree split point reduces thrust and improves centering without a pilot hole. With an overall length of 4.5276 inches and a 37/64-inch (0.5781 inch) diameter, this bit is sized for short, rigid setups on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machines. Coolant-through capability supports high-efficiency chip evacuation in deep or interrupted cuts.

This drill bit is intended for professional machinists and tool-and-die technicians working in production environments. The stub-length geometry provides added rigidity compared to jobber-length bits, making it well suited for close-tolerance drilling in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and other metals where runout control and hole quality are critical. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and toolholders sized for the 0.6299-inch shank diameter. It conforms to DIN 6537K specification, which is common in precision manufacturing and toolroom environments.

Key Features

  • Solid carbide construction for rigidity and long tool life in abrasive or hard materials
  • Multilayer TiAlN coating at the tip reduces heat buildup and extends cutting edge life
  • 140-degree standard point angle minimizes thrust and improves self-centering
  • Coolant-through design supports chip evacuation and thermal management in deep holes
  • Stub (screw machine) length provides a stiffer setup and reduced deflection
  • Right-hand spiral flute with tapered web for efficient chip flow
  • Conforms to DIN 6537K specification for consistent dimensional quality

Compatibility

Designed as an OEM-specification solid carbide stub drill for use in CNC machining centers, turret lathes, and drill presses equipped with chucks or toolholders accepting a 0.6299-inch straight cylindrical shank. Part of the KENNAMETAL B051A-CPG series.

Installation Notes

Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists following applicable shop safety and machine guarding procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is clean and properly seated before installing or removing the bit. Verify coolant-through passages are clear if internal coolant is used. Do not exceed the machine spindle speed and feed rates recommended for the workpiece material and bit diameter.
