The KENNAMETAL 4151246 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metal-cutting applications. Built to DIN 6537K standards, it features a 140-degree split point for precise entry and reduced thrust, a multilayer TiAlN coating for heat and wear resistance, and coolant-through capability to evacuate chips and extend tool life. At 13.50 mm in diameter with a 4.2126-inch overall length, this stub-length drill is engineered for rigidity and accuracy in short-reach drilling setups. It is suited for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machine operations where tight tolerances and consistent hole quality are required.
This drill bit is used in production machining environments where stub-length rigidity is preferred over jobber-length flexibility. Its straight-cylindrical shank at 14.00 mm diameter fits standard ER and hydraulic toolholders. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and tapered web configuration make it well suited for drilling steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar ferrous materials. Coolant-through ports support both internal and external coolant delivery, making it a practical choice for high-volume hole-making operations in job shops and production facilities.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement within the KENNAMETAL B051A-CPG series for straight-shank toolholders accepting a 14.00 mm shank diameter. Drill bit size range covered by this series is 13.50 mm to 17.00 mm (0.5000 to 0.6000 decimal inch).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician familiar with CNC or manual machine setup. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Verify runout with a dial indicator after clamping, as carbide drills are sensitive to misalignment that can cause premature chipping. Follow the machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety protocols when setting cutting parameters.
