Product Description

The KENNAMETAL 4151197 is a screw machine length (stub) drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in metalworking and precision machining applications. Built from solid carbide and coated with a multilayer TiAlN finish at the tip, it delivers excellent hardness and heat resistance under demanding cutting conditions. The bit measures 9.60 mm (0.3780 inches) in diameter with a 140-degree split-point angle that reduces thrust and improves self-centering at entry. Overall length is 89.00 mm (3.5039 inches). Coolant-through construction supports internal coolant delivery to extend tool life and clear chips effectively in deep or interrupted cuts. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and production drilling crews are the primary installers and users.

This drill bit is suited for stub-length drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous metals where rigidity and accuracy are priorities. The shortened flute length of 47.00 mm (1.8504 inches) and 10.00 mm (0.3937 inches) straight-cylindrical shank make it well matched for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machines where reduced overhang minimizes deflection. Maximum drilling depth is 35.00 mm (1.3780 inches). The flute-to-diameter ratio of 3xD is appropriate for moderate-depth holes in production environments. It conforms to DIN 6537K specification.

Key Features

  • Solid carbide construction for high rigidity and wear resistance
  • TiAlN multilayer coating at the tip for elevated heat and oxidation resistance
  • 140-degree point angle for reduced entry thrust and improved self-centering
  • Coolant-through design for internal chip evacuation and tool cooling
  • Tapered web configuration reinforces the core along the flute length
  • Conforms to DIN 6537K specification for dimensional consistency

Compatibility

Designed as a DIN 6537K-compliant stub-length drill bit in the KENNAMETAL B051A-CPG series, compatible with standard straight-shank toolholders and collet chucks accepting a 10.00 mm shank diameter.

Installation Notes

Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel familiar with CNC and manual drilling equipment. Confirm the spindle and toolholder are powered down and locked out before loading or changing the bit. Verify the collet or chuck accepts the 10.00 mm shank diameter and that runout is within acceptable tolerance before cutting. Do not exceed the maximum drilling depth of 35.00 mm in a single pass without retracting to clear chips, particularly when coolant-through supply is not active.
