Product Description

The KENNAMETAL 4151183 is a screw machine length (stub length) drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in metalworking and machining applications. Built from solid carbide and coated with a multilayer TiAlN (TiN tip) finish, it delivers extended tool life and heat resistance in demanding production environments. The bit features a 140-degree point angle for reduced thrust and self-centering entry, a right-hand cutting direction, and a regular spiral flute with a tapered web configuration. Overall length is 3.504 inches (89.00 mm), with a 0.338-inch (8.60 mm) cutting diameter. It is suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machine setups where stub-length rigidity is required.

This drill bit is intended for use in production machining environments where tight tolerances and consistent hole quality are priorities. The straight cylindrical shank at 0.394 inches (10.00 mm) diameter fits standard collet chucks and drill holders. The stub length format reduces deflection during deep-reach setups. Maximum drilling depth is 1.378 inches (35.00 mm). With coolant-through capability, it is well suited for interrupted cuts, stainless steel, alloy steels, cast iron, and other difficult-to-machine materials. The B051A-CPG series is a professional-grade tooling line built to DIN 6537K specification.

Key Features

  • Solid carbide construction for rigidity and wear resistance in hard materials
  • Multilayer TiAlN coating with TiN tip for heat resistance and extended tool life
  • 140-degree point angle reduces entry thrust and improves self-centering
  • Coolant-through design supports high-speed production drilling
  • Stub length reduces deflection and improves hole straightness in short-reach setups
  • Conforms to DIN 6537K specification for consistent dimensional standards

Compatibility

Designed as an OEM-style replacement and production tooling option within the KENNAMETAL B051A-CPG series. Fits standard collet chucks and drill holders accepting a 10.00 mm straight cylindrical shank. Compatible with CNC machining centers, turret lathes, and screw machines configured for stub-length carbide drills in the 8.00 to 9.50 mm drill diameter range.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Verify collet or chuck bore matches the 10.00 mm shank diameter before securing. Confirm coolant-through lines are connected and delivering adequate flow before initiating a cut at elevated feeds and speeds.
