The KENNAMETAL 4151180 is a stub-length (screw machine length) twist drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in metal and hard materials. Built from solid carbide and coated with a multilayer TiAlN finish at the tip, this bit delivers extended tool life and heat resistance in demanding production environments. It features a 140-degree point angle for fast penetration and self-centering entry, a right-hand spiral flute, and coolant-through capability to flush chips and manage heat at the cutting zone. The straight cylindrical shank measures 10.00 mm in diameter and seats securely in standard drill chucks and tool holders. It belongs to the B051A-CPG series and conforms to DIN 6537K specifications.
This drill bit is suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machine operations where stub-length rigidity is required to minimize deflection. The short overall length of 89.00 mm (approximately 3.50 inches) makes it well-suited for close-tolerance work in tight fixtures or thin-plate applications. Machinists and tool room technicians working in metalworking, aerospace component production, and general manufacturing will find this bit appropriate for through-hole and blind-hole applications in steel, cast iron, and similar ferrous materials. Maximum drilling depth is 35.00 mm (approximately 1.38 inches).
Designed for use in standard straight-shank drill chucks and toolholders accepting a 10.00 mm shank diameter, compatible with CNC machining centers and conventional drill presses used in metalworking and production machining applications.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine fully powered down and the spindle stopped. Ensure the shank is clean and free of debris before seating in the chuck or collet to prevent runout. Coolant-through setups require that the machine spindle coolant supply is properly connected and set to the appropriate flow rate per the machine tool manufacturer guidelines. Inspect the cutting edges and coating condition before each use and replace the bit if chipping or excessive wear is observed.
