The KENNAMETAL 4151177 is a screw machine length (stub length) solid carbide drill bit designed for high-performance hole-making in metal fabrication and machining applications. Built to DIN 6537K standards, it features an 8.20 mm cutting diameter, a 140-degree point angle for self-centering on curved or angled surfaces, and a multilayer TiAlN coating for extended tool life at elevated cutting temperatures. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and heat management during deep cuts. With an overall length of 3.5039 inches and a straight cylindrical shank, this bit mounts in standard drill chucks and collet systems without special adapters.
This drill bit is suited for high-speed drilling operations on ferrous and non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and hardened alloys in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machine setups. The stub length design increases rigidity and reduces deflection in short-reach applications. It is commonly installed by machinists, tool-and-die tradespeople, and CNC operators working in production environments where consistent hole diameter tolerance is critical. The 2-flute regular spiral configuration promotes efficient chip flow in through-hole and blind-hole drilling.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement drill bit in the KENNAMETAL Series B051A-CPG. Fits standard straight-shank drill chucks and collet holders accepting a 10.00 mm shank diameter. Compatible with CNC machining centers and manual drill presses set up for stub-length carbide tooling.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, powered-down state before changing tooling. Verify chuck or collet runout before securing the shank to maintain diameter tolerance at the cutting edge. When using coolant-through capability, confirm coolant pressure and flow rate are appropriate for the application before beginning the drilling cycle.
