The KENNAMETAL 4151167 is a screw machine length (stub) drill bit engineered for precision drilling in demanding production environments. Built from solid carbide with a multilayer TiAlN coating at the tip, this bit delivers high cutting performance and extended tool life in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 7.40 mm diameter cutting edge features a 140-degree split point for fast, accurate starts with minimal walking. At 3.1102 inches overall length, its compact stub geometry provides increased rigidity compared to jobber-length drills, making it well suited to CNC machining centers and screw machine operations where runout and deflection must be minimized. Licensed machinists and tooling setters typically specify this format for high-cycle, close-tolerance bore work.
This drill bit is intended for use in horizontal and vertical machining centers, CNC turning centers, and automatic screw machines where short-flute, high-rigidity tooling is required. Its coolant-through design allows internal coolant delivery directly to the cutting zone, supporting chip evacuation and heat management in deep-hole and high-feed applications. The straight cylindrical shank seats directly into standard drill chucks and collet holders accepting an 8.00 mm shank. It is built to DIN 6537K specification, making it a recognized standard in precision metalworking environments across automated and manual production lines.

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or turret is in a safe position before inserting or removing the bit. Verify collet or chuck runout does not exceed acceptable tolerances for the intended bore diameter before beginning a production run. Coolant-through toolholders must be used to take full advantage of the internal coolant channels; plugging the coolant port will reduce tool life and chip evacuation effectiveness.
