The KENNAMETAL 4151164 is a stub-length (screw machine length) solid carbide drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding production environments. Built to DIN 6537K specification, it features a 140-degree split point and a multilayer TiAlN coating with a TiN tip for extended tool life and reduced heat buildup at the cutting edge. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 0.315 inches in diameter, and the overall length is 3.11 inches (79 millimeters). With a regular spiral flute configuration and coolant-through capability, this bit is suited for machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in high-volume drilling applications on ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
This drill bit is intended for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machines where stub-length rigidity reduces deflection in short-reach applications. The 9/32-inch (0.2812 inch) diameter and 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio make it a practical choice for precision hole drilling in steel, cast iron, and similar workpiece materials. It installs with a standard straight shank and is sold individually, making it a direct replacement or addition to existing tooling inventory in machine shops and manufacturing facilities.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or production tooling option for straight-shank drill applications within the KENNAMETAL B051A-CPG series, compatible with standard straight-shank tool holders and collet chucks accepting a 0.315-inch shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following machine tool lockout and energy isolation procedures before changing tooling. Ensure the tool holder collet or chuck is clean and free of debris before seating the straight shank to the specified grip length. Do not exceed the maximum drilling depth of 1.14 inches (29 millimeters) in a single pass without retracting to clear chips. Coolant-through setups should be verified for correct pressure and flow before engaging the cut.
